SDSL Digital Resources Course – Public Libraries

February 1st – February 26th, 2021

                                                               

Students must register through the SDSL before completing this course to receive 15 contact hours.

ABOUT

A free, all online, self-paced introductory course for SD public library staff that teaches how to access, retrieve, and share information using SDSL databases. There are two required Zoom meetups - One on February 1st, 4-5pm (CST) and another on February 26th, 4-5pm (CST).

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

Identify, describe, and evaluate the different types of news, adult skills, and career electronic resources provided by the South Dakota State Library.

Demonstrate the ability to provide user-centered reference services using the South Dakota State Library databases covered in this course.                     

SDSL Digital Resources Course – Public Libraries - PART 2 

March 1st – March 26th, 2021

ABOUT

This free, all online, self-paced course, picks up where the February 2021 Digital Resources Course left off. You do not have to attend the February course in order to take the March course. However, keep in mind that this is not an introductory course. Students will be expected to know how to locate and access SDSL's databases. 

There are two required Zoom meetups - One on March 1st, 4-5pm (CST) and another on March 26th, 4-5pm (CST).

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Identify, describe, and evaluate different types of genealogy, k-12, and scholarly electronic resources provided by the South Dakota State Library.
  • Demonstrate the ability to provide user-centered reference services using the South Dakota State Library databases covered in this course.   

Students must register through the SDSL before completing this course to receive 15 contact hours.

Registration will open February 15th and close noon on March 1st, or when max capacity (20) is reached.
