About the WhoFi program

The South Dakota State Library provides WhoFi software to help public libraries improve services and streamline operations.

What is WhoFi?

WhoFi’s WiFi analytics tool offers insights into library usage, including:

  • Patron visits and return rates
  • Peak usage times
  • Foot traffic trends
  • Impact of events on new visitors

WhoFi ensures patron privacy while providing consistent data collection and reporting standards to support libraries and their annual Public Libraries Survey.

How can I enroll my library in the WhoFi wireless counter service?

Contact the State Library Data Coordinator to enroll your library.

The State Library makes WhoFi software free to all SD public libraries.

The State Library's WhoFi license includes the Community Calendar tool, helping libraries schedule programs, manage attendance, and gain insights—all in one place.

Key features:

  • Easy scheduling and attendance tracking
  • Data aligns with Public Libraries Survey and Summer Reading Survey reporting
  • Works independently of WhoFi WiFi analytics

The calendar can be integrated into library websites, with options for patrons to view events and register directly online.

How can I get started using Community Calendar?
  • If your library is already using the WhoFi wireless counter, log into your account https://app.whofi.com/login.php and select the Community Planner prompt on the menu at the left of the screen.

  • If your library is not enrolled in the WhoFi wireless counter program, you may contact WhoFi directly and ask to be added to the South Dakota State Library's account: support@whofi.com - 405-415-0434
